Is tonight worth it at Aogu Wetlands?
The app scores every spot from the forecast at its own sunset hour, with the seven-day outlook and the last train home. Six spots are free.
The spot
Aogu is a square of reclaimed land on the Chiayi coast that was farmed for sugar and then left to the birds, and it is now one of the best wetland reserves on the west coast. The embankment road along its seaward edge is the sunset walk: open sky, the sea to the west, and the marsh behind you filling with waders and egrets as the light goes.
It is quiet and very flat, and the reserve closes its inner roads to cars, so allow time to walk or cycle out to the western embankment before the sun gets low.
