The spot
A viewing deck on the ridge of Banpingshan, the low hill behind Lotus Pond in Zuoying. From the top you look down on the pond, its temples and pagodas, and the HSR station, and west across the city to the sea, where the sun sets.
It is a short climb of about 20 minutes on a well-made trail from Cuihua Road. The trail is not lit, so bring a light for the way down if you stay for the city lights.
