The spot
A wharf and waterfront park on the Dongshi lagoon on the Chiayi coast, where the oyster boats work. The plaza faces west across the lagoon and its oyster racks to the sandbars and the sea, and the sun sets over the whole spread of it. There is a sand play area for children and a row of seafood stalls.
It is named for its sunsets in Chinese signage and draws a weekend crowd for them; on weekdays it is nearly empty.
