The spot

The two seven-story pagodas on Lotus Pond, entered through a dragon’s mouth and left through a tiger’s, are Kaohsiung’s most photographed temple scene. In the evening the low light warms the pagodas and doubles them in the pond, and from the east bank you get them against the sunset sky with Banpingshan behind.

The pond has a full loop path and many other temples along it; the Spring and Autumn Pavilions just to the north give a second angle.
