The spot
A few minutes south of Nanliao Harbor, Shilang is Green Island’s best-known snorkeling spot, a shelf of coral running straight out from the shore. In the evening the snorkelers leave and the flat rock becomes a front-row seat for the sun setting into the sea, with nothing between you and the horizon.
The rock is uneven and wet, so wear shoes with grip and keep an eye on the swell. On a calm day the tide pools hold the color of the sky.
