The spot
Magong’s waterfront park faces west across the bay, which makes it the town’s sunset spot by default and a very good one. The long Rainbow Bridge that arcs over the water is the landmark everyone photographs, lit in color after dark, and the sea wall gives an unbroken view of the sun going into the strait.
It is an easy, flat evening: a walk from the center of Magong, families on the grass, swimmers off the beach in summer. The Penghu fireworks festival is staged here in the warmer months, when the sunset is the warm-up act.
