Is tonight worth it at Mituo Coastal Corridor?
The app scores every spot from the forecast at its own sunset hour, with the seven-day outlook and the last train home. Six spots are free.
The spot
Nanliao fishing harbor at Mituo was rebuilt between 2018 and 2022 as a waterfront park, and the piece everyone photographs is a 150-meter wooden boardwalk that curves out over calf-deep water like a wave, with a two-story lookout tower, a small artificial beach and a mural seawall behind it. It faces west into the strait, the sun goes into the sea at the end of the walkway, and on weekends people are lined along the rail by four o’clock waiting for it. Kaohsiung’s weekend bus to the harbor only starts running in the afternoon, which tells you what it is for.
Check the tide if you want water under the boardwalk; the wading area beside it has no rails. The milkfish festival in late October brings traffic control. Keziliao Fishing Harbor (see writeup here) and Xingda Port (here) are the harbors either side on the same coast.
