The spot
A big open park on the edge of the Dadu plateau above Taichung’s west side. Its lawns and terraces face west over the coastal plain, and on a clear evening the sun sets over the strait with the plain going gold and then dark beneath you. It is also one of the city’s best-known night-view spots, being high, dark and close.
Flat, paved and family-friendly; no hike beyond a walk across the lawns to the western edge.
