Is tonight worth it at Tamsui Old Street Riverfront?
The app scores every spot from the forecast at its own sunset hour, with the seven-day outlook and the last train home. Six spots are free.
The spot
The riverside promenade below Tamsui’s old street, from the ferry pier west to the Customs Wharf, is where most of Tamsui watches the sunset: the river mouth opens to the west, Guanyinshan rises across the water, and the sun goes down beside it. The waterfront is a row of cafés and snack stalls, the famous one being the riverside Starbucks, whose second floor is a sheltered seat for the view; the ferry pier and the Customs Wharf are the open ones.
Since the Danjiang Bridge opened in 2026 the Customs Wharf, at the west end, is one of the Highway Bureau’s listed viewpoints for the bridge at sunset, best from February to May and late July to early November. Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf (see writeup here) and Shalun Beach (see writeup here) are further out on the same bank, and FAB Green Village (see writeup here) is the lawn on the hill between.
