Is tonight worth it at Jade Mountain?
The app scores every spot from the forecast at its own sunset hour, with the seven-day outlook and the last train home. Six spots are free.
The spot
Taiwan’s highest mountain, and the one sunset in this app that needs a permit and a night on the mountain. From Paiyun Lodge and the main peak the sun sets over the ranges to the west with the Alishan cloud sea below; it is a different order of experience from everything else listed here, and a serious walk.
This is a hikers’ spot: apply for the Yushan permit well ahead, expect cold, and treat the sunset as something you plan a two-day trip around.
